TAKE A “DEAD” MATERIAL AND TRANSFORM IT INTO A USEFUL OBJECT, HONORING THE INTRINSIC UNIQUENESS AND BEAUTY OF THE SUBSTANCE AND THE WEARER ALIKE.
Our first experience with crafting came in our father’s carpentry studio, where we learned to work with wood from an early age. We are lucky: our workshop overlooks the Mountain of Olympus and we work with nature, both surrounding us and inspiring us. We are creative: we design, process and produce useful, unique items of high aesthetic value. We are innovative: we combine technology and handwork in everything we do. We are eco-friendly: we sourced our first materials from local farms and abandoned places, and we keep respecting and re-using everything that nature discards.
The Greek word “EXALLO” has two meanings: Literally, it defines a place, memory or thing that is characterized by the deep feeling of emotion it generates: a thing that is unconventional, unique, paradoxical, or unusual.
It is also a play on words, pairing the components “Ex” and “Allo”. Ex = “X” (from the word “Xylo”, which is the Greek word for wood) and “Allo” (which means “the other” in Greek). So, this is about “the wood, seen otherwise”.
The concept of Exallo is based in four fundamental principles: Redefinition of the value and the use of wood, sustainably sourced our first materials for the production process, high aesthetically driven design and craftsmanship of the highest level.
